Apple is planning to revamp the Apple Music app to put a greater focus on video with the release of iOS 11, reveals Bloomberg.

The site recently posted an interview with Jimmy Iovine, Apple's music guru, who shared some of his aspirations for the streaming service.

“A music service needs to be more than a bunch of songs and a few playlists,” says Iovine. “I’m trying to help Apple Music be an overall movement in popular culture, everything from unsigned bands to video. We have a lot of plans.”

Apple is readying several forays into video including a Carpool Karaoke series (recently delayed), Planet of the Apps, and several documentaries.

“We have the freedom, because it’s Apple, to make one show, three shows, see what works, see what doesn’t work until it feels good,” Iovine says.

It's expected that Apple Music could release as many as 10 original series by the end of year and with iOS 11, it's app will be updated to highlight that content.

When Apple introduces the next version of its smartphone software iOS later this year, the company plans to unveil a new edition of the Music app that better showcases video.

“For a music streaming service,” Iovine says, “we’re building a very decent slate.”
