Apple CEO Tim Cook is working with Cisco to push for cyber-security insurance discounts when enterprise customers use both Apple and Cisco products, reports Reuters.

Making an appearance at a Cisco event in Las Vegas, Cook and Cisco CEO Chuck Robbins said that using a combination of products from the two companies was more secure than using rival technology.

"The thinking we share here is that if your enterprise or company is using Cisco and Apple, the combination of these should make that (cyber-security) insurance cost significantly less," Cook said. "This is something we're going to spend some energy on. You should reap that benefit."

In a blog post, Cisco announced that it was adding security to its partnership with Apple.

Expected to be released in the fall of 2017, the Cisco Security Connector is designed to deliver the deepest visibility, control, and privacy for iOS devices. The Cisco Security Connector offers organizations the most granular view of what is happening on enterprise-owned mobile devices and provides the best protection for users, anywhere they travel. With the Cisco Security Connector, businesses will now have the ability to meet risk and compliance requirements from auditors and ultimately expand iOS adoption in new ways.

Additionally, Cisco says it is collaborating with insurance industry heavyweights 'to lead the way in developing the architecture that enables cyber insurance providers to offer more robust policies to our customers'. It plans to do this by enabling continuous security monitoring and a measurable reference architecture that includes technologies from Apple and Cisco.
