Facebook is developing a Smart Speaker with a 15-inch display for release early next year, reports DigiTimes. Sources say the device will be manufactured by Pegatron and could be launched in the first quarter of 2018.
The 15-inch touch panel that Facebook's smart speaker will use is supplied by LG Display, using in-cell technology. The speaker will also be equipped with a magnesium-aluminum-alloy chassis. The device has already begun small volume of pilot production at Pegatron's plants in China.
The Smart Speaker will have to compete with Apple's HomePod and more directly with Amazon's Echo Show, an Alexa powered assistant which has a 7-inch display.
