President Donald Trump says that Apple CEO Tim Cook has promised to build three big plants in the United States, reports the WSJ.

In a 45 minute interview with the publication, Trump said Apple would build 'three big plants, beautiful plants' but did not elaborate on where they would be or what they would do.

“I spoke to [Mr. Cook], he’s promised me three big plants—big, big, big,” President Trump said. “I said you know, Tim, unless you start building your plants in this country, I won’t consider my administration an economic success. He called me, and he said they are going forward.”

In May, Apple announced a $1 billion fund to promote advanced manufacturing jobs in the United States. During an appearance on CNBC, Cook said “We’re looking at this thing deeply. How do we grow our employee base? How do we grow our investor base? How do we employ [in] manufacturing?” It's possible that the plants being referenced to by Trump could be established with help from this fund.

Additionally, Trump said Foxconn plans to build a big plant in the United States and is strongly considering Wisconsin as the location for the plant. This corroborates rumors that we've been hearing since June. “We are bringing the entire industrial chain back to the traditional manufacturing region of the U.S. That may include display making, semiconductor packaging and cloud-related technologies," says founder Terry Gou.

Trump told the WSJ that people may need to move to land manufacturing jobs that are coming back to areas like Wisconsin, Iowa, and Colorado.

“You’re going to need people to work in these massive plants,” Mr. Trump said. “...I’m going to start explaining to people: When you have an area that just isn’t working like upper New York state, where people are getting very badly hurt, and then you’ll have another area 500 miles away where you can’t get people, I’m going to explain, you can leave. It’s OK. Don’t worry about your house.”
