Canary has announced that its security cameras now support Amazon Alexa, letting users easily view a video stream on their Echo Show or Echo Spot devices.

Today, we’re excited to announce that our integration with Amazon’s Alexa is available to all Canary users. Canary’s new Alexa skill enables voice-activated access to video from your Canary devices, making it even easier to see and know what’s going on all around your home.

The new Canary skill for Amazon Alexa is available on the Echo Show, Echo Spot, and compatible Fire TVs.

How It Works
To get started, open the Amazon Alexa app on your phone or tablet, navigate to Skills, search for Canary, and tap on Enable. From there, sign in using your Canary credentials, and follow the prompts. Once you’re connected, you can start using Alexa to view video from your Canary device.

To do so, just say “Alexa, show the [Device Name]”, substituting in the name of your Canary device. For example: “Alexa, show the Baby’s Room.”, “Alexa, show the Front Door”, or “Alexa, show the Basement”. Canary devices which are set to private will not be able to stream video.

The Canary skill for Amazon Alexa is supported on Canary All-in-One and Canary View devices running firmware v3.0.0 or higher and on Canary Flex devices running firmware v2.3.0 or higher. Unfortunately, there is no word yet on HomeKit support for Canary devices.
