Primate Labs has published its preliminary benchmarks for the new MacBook Pro, revealing the biggest performance jump since 2011.

For the 15-inch MacBook Pro, single-core performance increased 12-15% and multi-core performance 39-46%. The improvement is mainly due to higher Turbo Boost frequencies, additional cores, and DDR4 memory. OpenCL performance for the discrete GPUs is up 28-32% due in part to higher frequencies.

The 13-inch MacBook Pro also posted significant performance improvements. While single-core performance increased 3-11%, multi-core performance is up 81-86%. Higher Turbo Boost frequencies and more cores are responsible for the higher scores.

John Poole, Founder of Primate Labs, notes that the 2018 MacBook Pro is the most substantial upgrade in terms of performance since the introduction of quad-core processors in the 2011 MacBook Pro.

LaptopMag recently tested the performance of the SSD in the new MacBook Pro declaring it the fastest SSD ever in a laptop.
