Huawei took to the streets yesterday to hand out power banks to customers who were queued up to purchase the new iPhone XS at the Apple Store in Singapore, reports CNET.

The company held a similar marketing stunt in London this morning with a 'juice' van that offered both electricity and drinks with 'no traces of Apple'.

Huawei carried out its stunt in Singapore at about 11pm last night. It says the giveaway was to "offer respite from the weather and gruelling wait." Over two hundred 10,000mAh Huawei Supercharge power banks were handed out. The packaging read, "Here's a power bank. You'll need it. Courtesy of Huawei."

The smartphone maker has surged in popularity overtaking Apple as the world's second largest smartphone vendor. While the stunt is sure to gain media attention, some Huawei customers are upset that the company is giving away free products to Apple customers rather than its own.
