iOS 12.2 beta 5 brings improved audio quality for voice messages in iMessage, reports developer Frederik Riedel.

"wow: on iOS 12.2 beta 5 finally voice messages on #iMessage seems to be fixed: they sound crystal clear now", tweets Riedel.

It appears that in the new beta, Apple is now using the Opus Codec @ 24000 Hz instead of the AMR Codec @ 8000 Hz.

You can listen to a direct comparison of the voice messages here.

iOS 12.2 beta introduces numerous improvements and is likely to launch shortly after Apple's March 25th press event. You can learn more about what's new here.
