Apple has pulled the iOS 13.2 update for HomePod and issued a warning to users already running the software update after numerous reports that it bricks the smart speaker.

Users began reporting problems with the update on reddit yesterday:

I can confirm. HomePod is bricked now and won't reset. Only after updating to audioOS 13.2. No resets, unplugging, removing from HomeKit, etc. has helped. Spinning white circle and attempt to reset will turn the LED red but will return back to white spinning circle.

My update worked but the voice recognition wasn’t working so I removed it from Apple home. Then I tried to factory reset it and boom. Hit a brick wall. Quite literally. Home pod is now bricked. Been into support earlier this evening and they are sending me a box to send it in for repair.

If you've already updated to iOS 13.2 on your HomePod, Apple warns against reseting the device or removing it from the Home app. If you have reset or removed it, you'll need to contact Apple support as it has likely been bricked.

If your HomePod is running iOS 13.2, don’t follow these steps. If you’ve already reset or removed your HomePod from the Home app, contact Apple Support.

We'll likely see a software update to address this issue soon. Please follow iClarified on Twitter, Facebook, or RSS for updates.
