A 3D printed mockup that allegedly reveals the design of Apple's next generation iPhone has surfaced online, reports Macotakara.

The site obtained what is purportedly a mockup of the new iPhone that Apple will release in 2020 to replace the iPhone 11 Pro Max.

The mockup is 159mm tall compared to 158mm for the iPhone 11 Pro Max. It's 78mm wide, just 0.2mm wider than the iPhone 11 Pro Max and it is 7.1mm thick. That's 1mm thinner than the iPhone 11 Pro Max. The device has slightly lowered controls on both the left and right side of the device.

The most notable change is the widely rumored shift to flat edges, similar to the new iPad Pro.

The side of the case has changed to a sharp shape like iPad Pro (11-inch) and iPad Pro 12.9-inch (3rd generation). It seems that the position of the sound on / off switch and the volume up / down buttons are lowered about half of the size of each button. It is likely to return to flat glass like iPad Pro (11-inch), iPad Pro 12.9-inch (3rd generation) instead of the conventional 2.5D glass. The screen size of the 3D print mock was measured to be 6.5-inch (16.5cm).

Macotakara notes that a 6.7-inch display may not fit unless the screen is all the way to the edge of the housing. Finally, they noticed a mysterious connector on the left side of the mockup, similar in shape to the smart connector of the iPad Pro.
