Medtronic has announced that it is partnering with Apple supplier Foxconn to make ventilators at its Wisconsin plant.

Medtronic has been ramping up production of ventilators at its factory in Ireland. Currently, it is producing 300/week which will increase to 400/week by the end of April, 700/week by the end of May, and 1000/week by the end of June.

In an interview with CNBC, Medtronic Chief Executive Officer Omar Ishrak also revealed that company has partnered with Foxconn and open sourced the design of its ventilator in an effort to speed up production.

"As you know we put out an open source initiative where we open sourced our design for our 560 ventilator and that is a tremendous response. We've had over 70,000 downloads and there been some major players who have been engaged. Amongst them as Foxconn who have a plant in Wisconsin where we plan to make together with them ventilators within the next four to six
weeks. They'll be in production in that timeframe and that's on top of the numbers that I just gave you. The exact numbers on those we don't know yet but we will be rolling into production like I said. We're doing everything we can working 24/7 with Foxconn to bring this up to the factory in Wisconsin."
