Hulu has announced a test 'Watch Party' feature that lets up to eight people watch a movie or show together.
Hulu Watch Party is a test feature that allows eligible Hulu subscribers to watch movies and shows together and connect over long distance. The feature synchronizes video playback for all participants and adds a group chat to the video being watched.
Hulu Watch Party is available to Hulu (No Ads) and Hulu (No Ads) + Live TV subscribers. Up to eight people can join a single Watch Party session. The feature also supports viewers that share a Hulu account, letting them join through their individual profiles.
Currently, Hulu Watch Party is only accessible via a web browser. Titles that support the feature are marked with a Watch Party icon on their details page.
To start a Watch Party:
1. Visit Hulu.com on a supported web browser
2. Find a title available with Watch Party — look for this icon Hulu Watch Party icon next to a video
3. Select the Watch Party icon Hulu Watch Party icon on the Details page
4. Click Start Watching
5. Once in playback, select the chain icon Select the chain icon to invite others to Hulu Watch Party to copy the link, then send it to other participants so they can join you
