Apple has updated the description of its upcoming $129 MagSafe Duo charger revealing that the wireless charging pad requires a $49 power adapter to reach top charging speeds.
The MagSafe Duo Charger conveniently charges your compatible iPhone, Apple Watch, Wireless Charging Case for AirPods, and other Qi-certified devices. Just place your devices on the charger and a steady, efficient charge begins on contact. The charger folds together neatly so you can easily take it with you wherever you go.

● 20W USB-C Power Adapter (sold separately) for faster wireless charging up to 11W
● 27W or higher USB-C Power Adapter (sold separately) for faster wireless charging up to 14W
Already a very costly charger, the MagSafe Duo requires a 20W USB-C power adapter ($19) to reach 11W charging speeds. If you want to get up to 14W charging speeds (not 15W), you will need to purchase a 27W or higher USB-C power adapter. Apple's closest charger is the 30W USB-C power adapter that retails for $49.
In total that brings the cost of the MagSafe Duo charger to $178.
