Apple has updated its HealthKit API with a new version of its ECG algorithm.
According to documentation updated today, developers can now specify HKAppleECGAlgorithmVersion as version1 or version2. The version1 algorithm is compatible with iOS 14.0 or higher and watchOS 7.0 or higher. The version2 algorithm requires iOS 14.3 or higher and watchOS 7.2 or higher.
It's unclear what the difference is between version1 and version2; however, iOS 14.3 RC and watchOS 7.2 RC support the new Apple Fitness+ service as well as low cardio fitness notifications.
