MyWeather, a division of Weather Central has announced the release of MyWeather Lite for iPhone and iPod touch. The application features push notifications for severe weather, animated radar and satellite maps, 12-hour temperature, precipitation and wind trend graphs, 7-day forecasts and current conditions for over 10,000 U.S. and International cities.

MyWeather Lite allows users to receive weather alerts from the National Weather Service (NWS) utilizing Apple's push notification service. Over 50 watches, warnings and advisories are available for any U.S. city. MyWeather is the first developer to utilize push notification for NWS alerts, and has already deployed the new feature successfully to thousands of users via its premium weather app, MyWeather Mobile.

The app combines stunning, high-quality animated radar with Microsoft(R) Bing(TM) technology, letting users view weather conditions at any location around the country. The app also allows users to turn their device horizontally to view a full-screen map in the map tab and pinch, flick and zoom the map for greater detail.

"Our goal with MyWeather Lite is to give users a weather experience unmatched by any other free app available on the App Store,"
said Chris Kelly, president of MyWeather, LLC. "Adding push notifications to precision forecasts and high-quality radar allows us to not only surpass the feature sets of all other free weather apps, but of many paid apps as well."

MyWeather Lite 3.0 is free and available exclusively through the App Store in the Weather category. For more information, visit MyWeather online. Also available on the App Store: MyWeather Mobile, a full featured application with Alert Maps, Custom Locations, Full Screen Trend Graphs, Unlimited Cities and Zoom to Street-level Maps.
