Apple CEO Tim Cook has announced that the company will be donating to relief efforts following a Tornado outbreak affecting portions of the Southern and Midwestern United States.

Cook made the announcement on Twitter:

"Our hearts go out to all those affected by the devastating weather and tornadoes across the South and Midwest. Apple will be donating to support relief efforts on the ground."

Preliminary estimates suggest the Tornado family may have cut a path of up to 250 miles across affected areas. If confirmed to be a single tornado it would surpass the March 18, 1925 tornado event which travelled 219 miles across Missouri, Illinois, and Indiana. [W]

Currently, at least 34 people have been confirmed killed with some estimates suggesting a total of 75 to 100 deaths. About 50 to 70 people are feared dead in Mayfield, Kentucky. If confirmed, this would be deadliest tornado event in the state's history.
