DVDxDV has announced Veescope Live 2.0 for Macintosh. Veescope Live is a special effects software package that runs on a Macintosh computer and performs live chroma keying from a wide variety of video sources. With the release of version 2.0, it provides seamless integration between the worlds of production and post production.

Veescope Live in combination with the Veescope Key Plug-In lets the user send a chroma keyed video straight to Final Cut Pro. All the project settings in Veescope Live along with the logging information can be transferred to Final Cut Pro. The shot that you create in Veescope Live will be the same shot that you see in Final Cut Pro.

Veescope Live consists of three layers of video which can be stacked on top of each other to create a final shot. These three layers can be resized and positioned independently. A live video feed is placed in the middle layer which can be chroma keyed to make it transparent.

This layer is recorded by Veescope Live as a Quicktime Movie file. Using the XML file format, Veescope Live recreates these three layers on a Final Cut Pro timeline known as a Sequence. The size and position of the three layers of video along with the chroma key settings are transfered to Final Cut Pro. Depending on the complexity of the shot, this can save hours or days of post production time.

Pricing and Availability:
Veescope Live is available for $99 (USD) and the Veescope Key plug-in is available for $39. Both products can be purchased online.
