Netflix is raising its subscription prices in the United States and Canada, again. It's been less than a year and half since the company last raised its rates.

This time, the price hike will affect U.S. customers on every plan.

The Basic Plan has gone up from $8.99/month to $9.99/month, the Standard Plan has gone up from $13.99 to $15.49, and the Premium Plan has gone up from $17.99 to $19.99.

In Canada, the Standard Plan has gone up from $14.99 CAD/month to $16.49 CAD/month and the Premium Plan has gone up from $18.99 CAD/month to $20.99 CAD/month.

"We understand people have more entertainment choices than ever and we’re committed to delivering an even better experience for our members," a Netflix spokesperson told Reuters. "We’re updating our prices so that we can continue to offer a wide variety of quality entertainment options. As always we offer a range of plans so members can pick a price that works for their budget."

Last year, Netflix estimated it would spend $17 billion on programming but the company has not disclosed how much it will spend in 2022. As of September 2021, Netflix had 74 million streaming customers in the United States in Canada. It will likely update that number when it announces quarterly earnings on Thursday.
