Apple's US Education Store Now Requires UNiDAYS Verification, Introduces Product Limits

Apple has updated its Education Store in the United States to require UNiDAYS verification. Additionally, the store now limits purchases to one device per category per year.

Available to current and newly accepted university students, and teachers and staff at all levels. Start by verifying your eligibility. Get verified with UNiDAYS

Although, some users may have taken advantage of Apple's open edu store. The new verification introduces new problems.

Users are now forced to provide their personal data to a third party website.

To verify your student or staff status, you will be redirected to the third-party website UNiDAYS and will be subject to their privacy policy. By registering and using their website, the data you provide will be owned, controlled and processed solely by UNiDAYS and not by Apple.

More concerning, the new verification system excludes non-institutionalized students and teachers. For example, homeschoolers no longer qualify for an Apple education discount.

I’m homeschooled can I have a UNiDAYS account?
To be able to get a UNiDAYS account, you must be able to provide us with either an institution portal login, an institution issued personal email address or an institution issued student ID card. If, being homeschooled, means that you do not have access to these, we are not able to continue with the verification process.

As an alternative, we'd suggest shopping the Apple Store on Amazon. Prices are typically better than Apple's Education Store with a more flexible return policy.
