Best Buy has reportedly begun preparing for the launch of the Apple iPad on April 3rd.
According to MacRumors' sources, only 675 locations with devoted "store-within-a-store" sections will carry the iPad. The iPad will not be available on BestBuy.com.
The company has decided to not open early on launch day as it believes that would incur additional expenses while offering little benefit due to a lack of sales competition.
Display materials should arrive early next week. Two MacBooks and an iMac will be displaced to make way for the demo units.
Reports curiously indicate that the demo units encompass four separate SKUs, while Apple is launching only three Wi-Fi iPad models on April 3rd. The identity of the fourth model to be demoed is unknown, although it is possible that stores may be receiving a Wi-Fi + 3G model, scheduled for launch in late April, for demo purposes.
