Only the new iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max models will get updated with an A16 processor, according to a report from analyst Ming-Chi Kuo.

It's been rumored that Apple plans to release four new models this year but will drop the mini from the lineup in favor of a new iPhone 14 Max. The models expected are a 6.1-inch iPhone 14, 6.7-inch iPhone 14 Max, 6.1-inch iPhone 14 Pro, and 6.7-inch iPhone 14 Pro Max.

In tweet today, Kuo said:

Only two Pro models would upgrade to the A16 processor, while the 14 & 14 Max will remain the A15. All four new models will likely come with 6GB RAM, with the difference being LPDDR 5 (14 Pro & 14 Pro Max) vs. LPDDR 4X (14 & 14 Max).

The move would increase the gap between the iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Pro. Currently, the models are differentiated by camera, GPU-cores, ProMotion, RAM, and storage.

Notably, it's also said that Apple will introduce a new 'pill + hole' cutout design for the iPhone 14 Pro. The iPhone 14 is said to retain the current notch.
