Apple Will Now Refuse to Repair iPhones Reported Missing

Apple has instructed its technicians to refuse to repair iPhones reported as missing.

According to an internal memo obtained by MacRumors, Apple Stores and Apple Authorized Service Providers will now be alerted if an iPhone has been reported missing in the GSMA Device Registry. If a customer brings in an iPhone for repair and the technician sees a message in MobileGenius or GSX indicating it's been flagged missing, they are instructed to decline the repair.

The new policy could help reduce the number of stolen iPhones brought to Apple for service. The company already limits the ability to service an iPhone if Find My cannot be disabled.

If your device has been lost or stolen, Apple recommends you follow these steps.
