Apple's next generation MacBook Pro will feature new M3 Pro and M3 Max chips built on TSMC's 3nm process, according to a new report from TF International Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo.

I expect the next new MacBook Pro models, which will adopt M3 Pro/M3 Max processors made by 3nm (likely TSMC's N3P or N3S), will go to mass production in 1H24.

In December, TSMC held a 3nm Volume Production and Capacity Expansion Ceremony at its Fab 18 site in the Southern Taiwan Science Park (STSP). At the event, the company announced that its 3nm technology had successfully begun volume production with good yields. It estimates that 3nm technology will create end products with a market value of US$1.5 trillion within five years.

Apple's M2 Pro and M2 Max chips found in the new MacBook Pro are still manufactured on TSMC's 5nm process. Compared with the 5nm (N5) process, TSMC's 3nm process offers up to 1.6X logic density gain and 30-35% power reduction at the same speed.
