Independent developer Diethard Seiferth has announced that his new version 2.1 of FirstThings is now available exclusively for the iPhone and iPod touch. FirstThings is a 4th generation time management App based on the books "First Things First" and "The 7 Habits of highly effective people" from Stephen R. Covey.

In FirstThings, the user starts with defining his Life Code: "What is most important to me?", "What gives my life meaning?" and "What do I want to be and do in my life?". FirstThings is based on weekly planning and challenges the user to think in roles and weekly goals. Based on a calendar, the user can select a week, add the roles he or she wants to plan for, define a goal for each role, and add the tasks he or she wants to process. For each task, a quality level can be assigned: urgent, important, ... Each task can get the status "in process", "complete" or "incomplete".

The calendar, the week view, the role overview, and the In-App Purchasable journal with planned and real dates are nice planning instruments. The someday view let the user define goals and tasks for later use. A specific feature in FirstThings is the cut/copy & paste mechanism for tasks: The user can select a task, copy or cut it over the context menue, tap on any day in the calendar or week view to insert it there. This can also be done from the someday view.

Pricing and Availability:
FirstThings 2.1 is $6.99 USD (or equivalent amount in other currencies) and available worldwide exclusively through the App Store in the Productivity category. There is also a lite version available, but without the nice copy & paste mechanism and some of the other views and features.
