Microsoft has posted a series of video ads touting Cortana over Siri as a superior personal assistant.

Powered by Bing, Cortana is the only digital assistant that gets to know you, builds a relationship that you can trust, and gets better over time by asking questions based on your behavior and checking in with you before she assumes you’re interested in something. She detects and monitors the stuff you care about, looks out for you throughout the day, and helps filter out the noise so you can focus on what matters to you. Cortana will launch shortly here in the U.S. first as a “beta,” and then will launch in the US, the U.K. and China in the second half of 2014 with other countries to follow afterwards into 2015.

More details on the new Windows Phone 8.1 update can be found here.

Take a look at the ads below...

And once again, still not explaining about the confusing os and the gestures it handles. Are these guys too busy being defensive?

Are these videos from an April Fools joke? The first 3 were just stupid, and that last one was a seriously disturbing ad that would make everyone stay away!!! I'm sticking with Apple.

U don't like their XBox and still their market share leading Windows OS?

Last video was creepy! Feels like invasion of privacy!

gamerscul9870 - April 3, 2014 at 1:03am

Probably trying to show their side of Star Wars. Literally.

Cortana, open the pod bay doors. Sorry Dave... Last video felt creepy.

After so long it they now made a knockoff of someone that's ahead of their own game. Well done.

You know they're in trouble when they mention the competitor more than their own product. :)

gamerscul9870 - April 2, 2014 at 7:00pm

Wow, 3 years behind and think they got power, bet they'll mock with that.

Cortana, AKA Samantha from HER.

Almontalvo - April 2, 2014 at 6:50pm

Feels like an apple ad. Also on the last commercial was he saying somthing or just talking with a camera ?

iMax - April 2, 2014 at 6:48pm

LOL, Microsoft, you are three years to late :) nobody wants windows phones... With or without cortana or whatever.

f1982 - April 2, 2014 at 6:41pm

Excited to give this a go. Siri for me is only useful for text message dictation in the car. It would be interesting if cortana is more like siri google-now combined and offers something genuinely useful.

Why not just call it HAL

matrixmaniac - April 2, 2014 at 6:33pm

i really don't want Cortana (Microsoft) to get to know me!
