***************************************************************************************
This tutorial has been updated for WinPwn 2.5. You can find the new instructions here
***************************************************************************************

These are instructions on how to jailbreak your 2.0, 3G iPhone using Windows and WinPwn.

Please keep these notes in mind...
- You MUST do a full uninstall of winpwn before installing the new version
- Make sure you have the latest version of iTunes ( Currently 7.7)
- WinPwn uses 300MB of ram at peak due to the ipsw being extracted in memory
- You must first click browse and load an IPSW to use WinPwn (i thought this was clear)
- For 2.0 only the *5A347_Restore.ipsw files are valid. The 345 image will not work
- If you see Failed to load image catalog/payload catalog, this is fine and won't cause problems
- If you already have service with AT&T do not activate or install Youtube Fix

To follow this tutorial you will need to have iTunes 7.7 installed (make sure to reboot). Also, you may need to download and install .Net Framework if you are on Windows XP.

Step One
Create a folder on your desktop called Pwnage. In it place Winpwn 2.0.0.4 or Winpwn 2.0.0.4 and the latest 2.0 firmware.

Step Two
Install WinPwn by extracting the downloaded zip from Step One and running the setup executable. Once WinPwn has been installed it will put a shortcut icon on your desktop. Double click to launch the application.

Just found out that this will not work in iTunes 8. You should uninstall itunes 8 and install itunes 7.7 instead to get the restore to work properly.

Wow... Now i'm really confused. when upgrading a pwned iPhone from 2.0 to 2.1, I tried to put it into DFU mode and restore the custom using iTunes. And iTunes prompted me with error 1600. At first, I wondered if I did not put the iPhone into DFU mode properly. But it’s not. So, I tried to put it into recovery mode instead. And, it works perfectly with custom firmware install. So, when you encounter error 1600 again. So when i get a 1604 error i should set it to DFU mode, BUT this leads me to an 1600 error which sends me to a recovery mode. WTF ???

Hi... I found a way to remove 1604 error... You have to set the iphone into DFU mode recovery Mode See the video on https://www.iclarified.com/entry/index.php?enid=1034 If you see an iTunes logo when installing the ipsw file you haved set the ipgone into recovery mode. Just try again till you have it. 1. hold both buttons for 10 sec 2. hold Home button for 10 sec more 3. if you have a black screen you are ready to go.

as far as my understanding goes, i've read on one of the forums that at the moment 3G iPhone can't be unlocked! is this true and if it is, how long till people are gonna be able to unlock it? any input would be great! cheers mates!

GREAT STUFF!!! KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK!!! After few tries i finally got sync properly! This is for people using iPhone with a Rogers carrier - same thing applies as for the AT-T consumers, just leave the advanced tab UNCHECKED and there shouldn't be any problems receiving providers coverage. The only thing that's kind of not clear to me is, that it says that your iPhone should be unlocked as well, but after input another SIM card i get a message that i've got incorrect sim card, meaning that the phone isn't unlocked cause it doesn't support other sim cards??? anyone bother to explain, it would mean a lot! once again great post!!!

I got through the whole proccess and everything seems to be working with one big exception. When I try to get into my voicemail I'm asked for a password. I never had a password before so have no idea what it could be. I already tried to reset all setting to fix it but that didn't work. Working with vista 32 bit. Anybody have a clue

Works perfectly with iphone 3g with iPhone1,2_2.0_5A347_Restore. Guys having problem should remove the sim from phone before restoring. Thanks for providing the guide really made my dead iphone alive again.

this is regarding my last comment on how it wouldn't restore my iPhone due to error 1601...a way to fix this is to redo everything and this time setting the partitioner size to 500mb instead of 512mb which is recommended. After this I hit the ipwner button on winpwn and it pwned my itunes After this was done it restored my iPhone with no Problems...hopefully this works for those with problems like this... Now I just have to figure out how to use everything correctly :/

@pete the reason why your phone is not recognizing your carrier is because when you made the custom firmware you checked off "activate phone". you have to remake the custom firmware and make sure that that option is unchecked and it will work.
