Microsoft has issued a statement following a rumor this morning that it would be submitting Office for iPad to the App Store, reports the New York Times.

A Microsoft spokeswoman issued this statement: "The Daily story is based on inaccurate rumors and speculation. We have no further comment."

The Times also reports that a person connected to Microsoft said that an image with The Daily's article depicting an Office product for iPad was not real.
