Apple will reportedly unveil an 8GB iPad 2 alongside a new 16GB and 32GB iPad 3 on March 7th, according to a DigiTimes report.
Sources from its upstream supply chain pointed out that the company is expected to launch two iPad 3 models - a 16GB version and 32GB version. In addition to iPad 3, Apple is also expected to unveil an 8GB iPad 2, allowing the tablet PC series to cover different segments and to defend against Windows 8-based tablet PCs
The site expects the 8GB iPad 2 to cost around $349-$399 and sell alongside an $449 16GB iPad 2.
It was recently rumored that Apple would increase the price of the iPad 3 by $70-80.

I can believe that they would make an 8GB cheaper iPad 2, but there is no way that Apple would make a new iPad in only 16GB and 32GB, they would have a 64GB model and I see them adding in a 128GB model in the next year or two. So this source is full of bs unless they just didn't mention the 64GB model by accident.

this actually makes sense, if you look at how the iphone 3gs is still around to compete with all the other free smartphones out there. the ipad 2 (which is a very solid device) with only 8gb of memory or 16gb of memory prices lower to compete against other tablets at lower price points would be easier for them instead of making this 7" or 8" B.S. I keep hearing about...

It actually makes no sense at all. It would be completing against the iPod Touch. Apple isn't stupid.
