The iPhone Dev-Team has released an update to RedSn0w that fixes an issue for those on Mac OS X 10.5.x or earlier.

Update #1b: The OS X version of redsn0w has been updated to fix an issue for those running OS X 10.5.x or earlier.

Your comment is not applicable to the article content, however since you brought it up, if you want a jailbreak for 5.1, no one is stopping you from developing your own. Or if you prefer existing 5.1 jailbreaks are available for exclusive purchase for around $250000.
