Check out this iPhone concept based on a recent Apple patent filing for a display that wraps around the device.
Nickolay Lamm and Matteo Gianni from MyVoucherCodes posted the 3D rendering of what such a device might look like in real life.
"Such a design may appear on the iPhone 6 or 7, or maybe never. It’s a cool design, but one which is unlikely to give Apple a sustainable competitive advantage. If Samsung sees that Apple’s curved iPhone is selling well, it can come out with a curved phone of its own. So, although this is a radical design change, Apple needs to look to new frontiers, new products, in order to be the “think different” Apple it was under Steve Jobs. "
Not really, Samsung already did a live presentation of the bended LCD or AMOLED that can flex built in the smartphone. Apple is too late, Samsung had this before apple patent it.
This is a beautiful design. Just beautiful and I cant wait for it!!! it will once again knock all the other crap out. Patented first before any other Crappy gadget running r2d2 android. I'm sure Samsung will try to copy it though and make it seem like they came up with it. I had a Samsung and then Htc. I have to say Htc is the better one but so far my iPhone 4S and now five are wonderful and ill never leave them. Apple will get so much better people want to knock them. They have a great thing. No need for drastic change like the other crap people quickly outgrow. No need to hate haters. This is just a beautiful design!!!
looks fine... like the no home button - wonder how that will work - a concave display would better the view angle rather than a convex as this... the patent showed a full wrap around of app screen... totally useless as my hand would cover the touchable screen 80 - 90% of the time... suddenly multi-touch needs to realize my hand is holding the screen too. will not work. just a concept and a useless move for the consumers - no benefit to design a phone like this.
Can anyone on here actually garnish a rational thought??? Every single " concept" or "variation" or "style design" NEVER NEVER NEVER is from Apple!!! It's from boys and girls who are computer savvy that give you the reader different ideas. None of these ever come to fruition. It's just someone's idea based of of factual information. In this case Apple was awarded a patent for curved design points. This artist "designed" what they thought an iPhone MIGHT look like!!!! Jeez. I'm sick of ppl freaking out like this is what is going to be the next phone. I for one like some of the ideas that ppl have. But it's not coming from Apple!!! Relax ppl!!
We'd prefer the normal one than that curved one if you're talking about concepts. Don't talk about concepts if it isn't any better than the normal one. Better tell the specifications of the concepts instead if showing pictures. And Samsung? They've already made their concepts, watch "Samsung Galaxy Youm" on YouTube. They've already made flexible displays possible before they made a concept. They showed the technology first before lots if concepts. Apple, they're the opposite-- concepts comes first. Apple always lacked innovation. But they build sturdy phones and tablets, and their apps are great. If you think I'm being somehow offensive, well I'm stating facts.
Well, I'm on Samsung's side on this article, because it is like the one who made that concept pissing off Samsung yet he doesn't know what Samsung is capable of creating. I like Samsung, I really do, what I only liked about Apple is the simplicity of their OS and Apps, the goodness of their build-quality, and iTunes--the player, especially the lyrics. But I also hate it because they don't let the developers of apps control the application the way they want, it's like Apple is very suspicious, configuring Apps before they release it, just like what Mark Zuckerberg said with the Facebook on iOS, plus, creating apps isn't that open to people. In Samsung and Google, they're doing great, customizations, access to folders, it doesn't require iTunes, it opens most files in the world, Bluetooth sharing-- be it music or photos, NFC, removable battery, additional storage through microSD Cards, and their features are incredibly awesome like what they did to Samsung Galaxy SIV. The things that I hated in Samsung are their batteries and design, the rest? They're good enough. About the battery, it's because the battery in one of my phones 'inflated'. It also happened to my brother's. and it won't fit in the phone anymore.
