Apple will reportedly announce its new Mac Pro as early as this month, according to a MacDailyNews source.
Apple will announce its replacement for the company’s Mac Pro lineup this month, a source who has been correct about Apple product matters in the past has just informed us. Our source offered no information as to whether the “Mac Pro replacement” would be a tower, mini-tower, or some other solution, but did caution that the announcement “could slip into May or even June, but currently April looks most likely.”
Last June, Apple responded to outrage over the lack of a real Mac Pro update revealing that the model would see a refresh in 2013.
MacMini? Come on…
MacMini hasn't any uptodate power, nor with it's CPU, nor with it's RAM, nor with it's Bus-system.
Nor has it enough Memory, has no option for internal HDDs (external HDDs are limited to the amount of external Bus ports), has not enough external DVI/HDMI/VGA ports, and so on…
This all can not be simply fixed by just using USB/FW. a) There are simply not enough ports. b) Performance would be limited. c) It's a mess to deal with all those external devices. d) Not everything is avaiilable as external device. e) Performance of a MacMini or equivalent is a joke for a real Workstation usage (the accent is on *Work*station).
Forget to say: Thunderbolt is not going to push really to market. Reason is it's simply to expensive, Devices cost arm and leg and that seems not going to change.
I love the tower as it is. They shall not change the design, just put up to date pro hardware & Thunderbolt inside and I will finally be able to buy it :-)
