How to Unlock Your iPhone with ZiPhone 2.4 (Mac)

Posted February 12, 2008 at 12:19pm by iClarified
These are step by step instructions how to jailbreak and unlock almost any iPhone instantly using a Mac! No downgrading then upgrading! You can do the unlock from 1.1.2 or 1.1.3. It will also jailbreak and activate as well as install Installer.app for you!

- Unlock will work on 4.6 BL and 3.9 BL
- Jailbreak will work on any OS version.
- Activation will work on any OS version, except for youtube on 1.0.X.

Perform these steps with your iPhone on and connected to your computer.

Step One
Download ZiPhone from: here

Step Two
Double click ZiPhone.zip on your desktop to extract the folder ZiPhone..

Step Eleven
The program will now put the iPhone into recovery mode. Then it will load zibri.dat. Then it will search for the iPhone. Once found it will tell you to wait for 2 minutes and 30 seconds.

Step Twelve
After this time your iPhone will reboot and it will be activated, jailbroken, and unlocked!!!!

NOTE*: After completion its probably a good idea to install BSD Subsystem first then OpenSSH from Installer.app

NOTE*: If you are in an unsupported country YOU MUST patch AppSupport after unlocking or your dialer will keep crashing as will your SMS:

My iphone is unlocked already but how do you fix the youtube problem? Also, I have a problem with my phone book, whenever I try to save a number I need to store it twice as +63917xxxxxxx and 0917xxxxxxx (philippine numbers) because it wouldn't be able to recognize the name of the contact in sms messages and in calls. How do I fix this?

I have a 1.1.2 and just used ziphone, did the BSD and then the openSSH installation. After that I added countries using Fugu. After that i rebooted as stated. Now I am stuck with the apple logo. Before rebooting the phone worked well. What to do? Any ideas what the problem could be? Thanks

I used this for new 16gb with my tiger and all seems to work fine. I can't install BSD though, all should be good (unlocked, Wifi fine etc). It works with a SIM from finland too so how about this step, is it necessary? If you are in an unsupported country YOU MUST patch AppSupport after unlocking or your dialer will keep crashing as will your SMS: https://www.iclarified.com/entry/index.php?enid=598 Help with the BSD would be great!

I can only get themes from polar bear farm to work with summerboard after using ziphone. They will not show up unless it's from Polar Bear Farm. Any ideas? Also, customize does not open, it just tries to and shuts down. Thanks.

Yea, the ziphone terminal won't even find my phone in the initial command "dyld: lazy symbol binding failed: symbol not found: _sleep$UNIX2003 Referenced from: /Users/louis/desktop/ziphone/ziphone expected in: /usr/lib/libsystem.b.dylib" When I gave the directory listing /louis/lib/libsystem.b.dylib it tells me that no such file or directory exists. ? Help please?

ok, this is probably the strangest thing i ever experienced with this phone and trust me, i've gone though a lot: after failing to put it into DFU several times it suddenly worked. then i tried to restore but got a 2001 error (multiple times). i almost surrendered when all of a sudden the phone showed some terminal kind of process on the screen and it came back jailbroken!!! i have not the slightest idea why and how but if you're stuck with the siver logo, just be patient. at some point it'll work ;)

TO THOSE WHO ARE USING ZIPHONE AND ARE GETTING THE SILVER APPLE LOGO AND NO RESPONSE FROM THE COMPUTER: I found the note at the top of the iClarified tutorial for ZiPhone. I struggled for 3 hours last night trying to get the phone unlocked with ZiPhone 1.1, and it would just hang and say Wait 2'30" and then sit at the silver apple logo... Saw the note saying 1.0 wasn't getting those errors. So I tried it with Ziphone 1.0 and it worked perfectly!!! Check which version you are using this may be the problem! Good luck!

Here is a pattern that seems to work repeatedly (where nothing did before) avoiding the white Apple completely: *Option Restore using iTunes selecting a downloaded 1.1.3 firmware file *Remove Sim *Put iPhone Into Restore mode *Run Ziphone BUT MAKE SURE TO SET THE -v FLAG (running without it never completes (white Apple), running with it completes properly) *For those without new baseband (1.1.1 OTB) get BSD, and AnySim 1.3, put into Airline mode, run AnySim, uninstall Anysim This has worked twice now perfectly, where nothing worked before. Its seems like the -v flag lets Ziphone complete properly

hello, thank you for your advice, but shouldn't the baseband on my phone be 4.03.13_G if it came with 1.1.2 OTB? Or does 1.1.3 only come with 4.03.13_G OTB. In any case, I RESTORED these phone to 1.1.3 which I assume would upgrade the baseband. Using Locate Me to get Maps working is a crappy workaround since that has to be done everytime the phone gets shut off/reset whatever. How do I upgrade the baseband on my 1.1.2 OTB iPhone? It is currently activated, jailbroke, and unlocked using ZiPhone. Thanks for any help! :)
