Apple to Launch Retina Display MacBook Air in 2H14?

DigiTimes is the latest source to report that Apple will be launching a new Retina Display MacBook Air.

The site notes that current MacBook shipments are likely to drop 15% from 12 million units in 2013 to 9.9-10 million units in 2014. However, suppliers believe that those estimates may not be accurate due to the launch of new MacBook models.

Taiwan-based supply chain makers hold the opinion that 2014 MacBook shipments estimates may not be accurate because Apple will launch new models in the second half of 2014. Apple will reportedly launch a MacBook Air with Retina display, the makers said.

Just days ago, another report claimed that Apple would be releasing a new 12-inch Retina Display MacBook that does not have a fan assembly. It's also said to feature a new trackpad design without a mechanical button. More details here.

Finally, DigiTimes says Apple plans to launch a larger iPad in the second half of 2014, with Quanta Computer responsible for OEM production contradicting their own report from earlier this month that said Apple had shelved the project.
