Apple has reportedly met with Thai officials after the secretary general of the National Broadcasting and Telecommunications Commission disclosed approval of two new iPhone 6 models.

It was previously reported that Apple had requested permission to import two new iPhone models -- A1586 and A1524, on August 5th. Government regulations require all approvals to be made public, but specs and other details can remain confidential.

Apple is obviously upset at the TBTC for disclosing confidential information about its upcoming handset, however the NBTC argued that his announcement did not reveal any confidential product information. NBTC secretary Takorn Tantasith also said Apple would be within its rights to penalize Thailand by canceling its plans to release the iPhone in the country later this year.

Interestingly enough, Apple emphasized with officials that the next generation iPhone may not be called the "iPhone 6," hinting that Apple could use another name for the device.

Apple is rumored to announce the next iPhone at a September 9 event.
