Apple will likely source OLED displays from both Samsung and LG in order to limit reliance on one supplier and better its ability to negotiate pricing, reports iNews24 via DigiTimes.

Apple is concerned over pricing for the technology used in small- to medium-size products and will use multiple suppliers to help create space for price negotiations. LG Display is expected to be the main supplier of small- to medium-size OLED panels to Apple, but Samsung's role is expected to grow.

iNews24 says that Samsung currently has better pricing for its OLED lineup than LG does and the company is putting money into its 6G A3 line which will expand capacity by 15,000 substrates a month.

Korea based suppliers are reportedly seeing increased yields for OLED and prices have been dropping quickly. Based on reports that Apple is looking to switch its iPhone to OLED by 2018, JDI has outlined a strategy to begin production of the displays.

Meanwhile, Apple is said to have opened a secret lab in Taiwan that will be developing new display technologies.
