Apple registered several automobile related domain names in December, reports MacRumors. The domains registered through MarkMonitor include: apple.car, apple.cars, and apple.auto.
While the domains could be related to CarPlay, they could also be for Apple's rumored electric vehicle.
Back it September, it was reported that Apple upgraded its electric car to a 'committed project' giving it a target ship date of 2019. Leaders of the project, code-named Titan, were apparently given permission to triple the 600-person team working on the vehicle.
Despite Apple hiring experts in self-driving vehicle technology, the company's first vehicle is not expected to be self-driving. However, it's reportedly in the long term plans.
