Apple is preparing an enhanced version of its Siri personal assistant that will launch alongside the next generation iPhone, according to a DigiTimes report. Some of the improvements are said to be a result of Apple's Turi acquisition.

Apple acquired Australia-based machine learning startup Turi in August 2016, aiming to further strengthen the functionality, as well as the market share, of its Siri intelligent personal assistant. Meanwhile, market sources have also indicated that Apple's next-generation iPhone devices are likely to come with enhanced Siri.

The site notes that smartphone vendors including Apple, Samsung, Huawei, LG and Xiaomi are likely to introduce models featuring AI (artificial intelligence) applications in an effort to boost marketshare this year. LG and Huawei are integrating Amazon Alexa into their products which will bring another major competitor to mobile devices and Samsung is planning to make Viv a key part of the upcoming Galaxy S8.
