Developer Guilherme Rambo has discovered references to an upcoming Apple 'SmartCam' feature that will detect the subject matter you're shooting and adjust the iPhone's camera settings accordingly. The references were found in a HomePod firmware release which was accidentally released to the public. This is the same firmware that leaked the design of the next generation iPhone.

iOS 11 (or the next iPhone) will have something called SmartCam. It will tune camera settings based on the scene it detects

The scenes specified include Baby, BrightStage, Document, Fireworks, Foliage, Pet, PointLightSources, QR, Sky, Snow, Sport, SunsetSunrise, and Others.

There's also references to Confidence levels for BrightStage, SunsetSunrise, Pet, Baby, QR, and Document.

Additionally, Rambo found a 'freezeMotion' feature which may aim to capture the perfect frame of an object in motion. Scenes linked to freezeMotion include Baby, Face, and Pet.

It looks like there will be some exciting updates ahead for iPhone photography enthusiasts. Please follow iClarified on Twitter, Facebook, or RSS for updates.
