Apple's rumored new 6.1-inch LCD iPhone will use an 18:9 full active display panel with 0.5mm bezels made by Japan Display, reports the China Times. LG Display is also expected to supply some panels.

OLED panel is still almost exclusively supplied by Samsung. As for the LCD panel, it adopts JDI's latest 18: 9 full screen panel with only 0.5mm square frame, and some LCD panels are supplied by LGD.

Japan Display announced its FULL ACTIVE LCD display back in June. It has a slim bezel on all four sides and an aspect ratio of 18:9. The FULL ACTIVE LCD display was achieved by adopting a new high-density wiring layout, and new processing and module assembly technologies. Combined, these new technologies enabled JDI to reduce the width of the bottom bezel to be as narrow as the other three sides.

The company says this newly designed LCD will allow the size of a smartphone device to be nearly the same as the display size.

Earlier today, another report from KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo predicted that the 6.1-inch LCD iPhone would use an aluminum frame instead of a stainless steel one. It's also said to have just a single-lens rear camera and drop 3D Touch.
