Apple is planning a major redesign of its iBooks app with a simpler interface similar to the new App Store application that launched with iOS 11, reports Bloomberg. The company is looking to take on Amazon again after its last attempt resulted in a $450 million fine for price fixing.

The revamped app will be available for iPhones and iPads and Apple has reportedly hired an executive from Amazon to help with its development.

The new app, due to be released in coming months, will include a simpler interface that better highlights books currently being read and a redesigned digital book store that looks more like the new App Store launched last year, according to people familiar with its development. The revamped app in testing includes a new section called Reading Now and a dedicated tab for audio books, the people said.

Notably, Apple tweaked the name of its iBooks app to 'Books' in the first beta of iOS 11.3, providing a hint that the new app is on the way.
