Despite a shift to focus on quality, Apple is still planning to release a feature that will allow Macs to run iPads apps this year, according to an Axios report.

The signature new feature for the Mac — the ability to run iPad apps — is a significant undertaking that adds a high degree of complexity to this year's OS release.

Axios also says the company is planning improvements in performance when waking and unlocking macOS devices.

Late last year, Bloomberg reported that Apple will allow developers to create universal apps that work on iPhone, iPad, and Mac.

Starting as early as next year, software developers will be able to design a single application that works with a touchscreen or mouse and trackpad depending on whether it’s running on the iPhone and iPad operating system or on Mac hardware.

It's possible that Apple could announce such a feature at WWDC in June. Please follow iClarified on Twitter, Facebook, or RSS for updates.
