European Union lawmakers could finalize a proposal to force manufacturers like Apple to use USB-C for mobile phones, tablets, and headphones on June 7, reports Reuters.

A meeting has been scheduled on June 7 to discuss the proposal once more.
The European Parliament's Internal Market and Consumer Protection Committee voted 43 to 2 in favor of adopting the revised Radio Equipment Directive in April.

Notably, lawmakers also want to expand the proposal to laptops.

The trilogue next Tuesday will be the second and likely the final one between EU countries and EU lawmakers on the topic, an indication of a strong push to get a deal done, the people said. Outstanding issues include broadening the scope of the proposal to laptops, a key demand by EU lawmakers that is likely to impact Samsung and Huawei and other device makers, the people said.

Apple has resisted the change arguing that it will stifle innovation; however, multiple reports have suggested that the company is already testing an iPhone 15 with USB-C in case it's forced to make the change.
