Apple has stopped signing iOS 8.1 meaning that it is no longer possible to downgrade or restore to the firmware.
Normally, we would warn users not to accidentally update to the current firmware version, but thanks to a surprising release, we already have a jailbreak of iOS 8.1.1.
TaiG has released a jailbreak utility for iOS 8.1.1 that works on Windows. We hope to see a Mac OS X version soon; however, since a beta of iOS 8.2 has already been seeded, we suggest you update to iOS 8.1.1 and jailbreak as soon as possible.

You do know that when you update the phone to a higher software, they've added more things and made it a bigger firmware which makes the phone run slower. so he's right to stay on ios 7, cause ios 8 is even slower than 7, 5 was blazing fast on 4S and 6 was pretty good as well.
