As expected, the Department of Defense has approved BlackBerry 10 devices and Samsung devices running Samsung Knox; however, Apple devices running iOS 6 have yet to receive approval, reports The Verge.
While its disappointing that BlackBerry and Samsung received approval ahead of Apple. A DoD spokesperson did confirm that the department is also looking at other operating systems and could approve iOS within a few weeks.
We've been informed by a Defense Department spokesperson that several other mobile devices and operating systems are also being reviewed for possible use. As for iOS, the Defense Information Systems Agency has a few outstanding questions about the operating system. It's expected that iOS 6 will join BlackBerry 10 and Samsung Knox in being approved sometime in the next two weeks.
If iOS received approval it would allow military agencies to use the iPhone and iPad for non-classified communications.
Ohh my what a great comeback big man. I state the facts. Use your crappy pc or android device to look them up. Thats if you can get passed the slow booting, freeze ups, reboots or blue screens.
You want to know why iOS is not approved yet and the others are? Because there's gonna be a higher influx of ios devices being used than the other ones. I talked to a head IT guy at wright Patterson air force base less than hour ago about this. He said Samsung devices with probably be less than 5-10% usage and They're already projecting that the majority of blackberrys are on there way out. So like I said before. Get Your facts straight before you open your mouth and think you know what you're taking.
