Apple's wireless charging accessory for the iPhone will not debut at today's event, according to a new report from KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo.

Despite the iPhone X, iPhone 8 Plus, and iPhone 8 shipping with support for inductive wireless charging, customers will have to use third party charging solutions until Apple is ready to launch it own charger.

Kuo says Apple isn't ready to launch a charger because it has "higher requirements for wireless charger RF specifications." The company may even be waiting for certain "technological breakthroughs" before production.

Apple’s own-brand wireless charger is not expected to debut at the media event, which we believe is primarily because Apple has higher requirements for wireless charger RF specifications, so there will be no definite mass production timetable prior to technological breakthroughs. However, the new iPhone models supports the WPC standard, so we think users will be able to purchase and use non-Apple WPC-compliant wireless chargers with the new iPhone models.

Kuo also said that Foxconn is planning to ramp up production of the 5.5-inch LCD iPhone 8 Plus by as much 70-80%, possibly due to a severe shortage of the iPhone X.

Apple is holding an event to unveil the new iPhone X, iPhone 8 Plus, iPhone 8, LTE Apple Watch, Apple TV 4K, and more in a few hours. Tune in to our live blog and follow iClarified on Twitter, Facebook, or RSS for updates.
