Apple is testing a version of its next generation iPhone that features a USB-C port rather than a Lightning port, according to a Bloomberg report.

Apple is also testing some versions of this year’s iPhone line that includes a USB-C connector instead of the Lightning port that has been used on iPhones since 2012, indicating that the company plans an eventual switch, according to one of the people.

The company has already switched to USB-C for its iPad Pros and many users are hoping it will do the same with its smartphones.

This year's new iPhone models are said to feature an upgraded processor, an improved Face ID sensor, and a triple-lens camera. The device's design is not expected to change until 2020 when Apple will likely introduce 5G support.

You can check out some alleged prototype designs here and here.
