Google teased new augmented reality (AR) glasses with real-time translation at its I/O 2022 developer conference today.

Augmented reality allows us to spend more time focusing on what matters in the real world, in our real lives. It can break down communication barriers — and help us better understand each other by making language visible. Watch what happens when we bring technologies like transcription and translation to your line of sight.

Google didn't provide any information on when glasses with this technology could be released; however, it's clear that the company is working on AR products that will be useful in the real world.

Apple is also widely rumored to be working on its own mixed reality headset. The company was initially expecting to unveil the device at WWDC 2022, but recent reports suggest Apple will miss that date and instead will launch the headset later this year or next year.
