Analyst Ming-Chi Kuo with Concord Securities has issued an investor note predicting that the iPhone 5 will only offer minor improvements on the iPhone 4 but Apple has a new design planned for the 2012 iPhone.
According to AppleInsider, Kuo has heard that the iPhone 5 will include the faster A5 processor already found in the iPad 2, as well as a higher resolution 8 megapixel rear camera. He has also been told that Apple will switch to a Qualcomm baseband for both GSM and CDMA models, along with an improved antenna design.
Kuo has heard that the iPhone 5 will begin trial production in August and mass production in September.
As for the iPhone 6, Kuo has heard that Apple is planning a new design with greatly improved hardware specifications. His sources say that this device could go on sale in the first half of 2012 due to "fierce competition" with Android.
Actually, I was expecting a iPhone4[S], that device will be just a perfect iPhone4, as iPhone3G[S] was in comparison to iPhone3G. Plus, I am skipping completely the iPhone4 to buy this one; good news to me.
It makes no sense for Apple to release another iphone 4 with small spec bumps. The current iphone 4 is doing well, maybe they need to focus on better software services like the Blackberry has (i.e. FREE INTERNET and INSTANT MESSAGING). The iPhone 5 should be a major release killing the Android and BB, so I dont see anyone opting to buy the "iPhone 4GS" anyway - everyone will rather wait.
i think depending on if it is 4G/LTE compatible will determine the name. if no actual 4G support chances are it's not going to be the "4GS." It might be something along the lines of iPhone 4S.
Still would be surprised if it gets released in Fall.
6 will NOT come before next summer. It's not how apple works competition or not they move how they move and don't let others dictate that. It's one of the reasons apple comes off so arrogant.
