The iPad 3G has reportedly been hacked to enable full phone and SMS functionality by iPhoneIslam.

A hack that will change the game. Can you imagine turning your iPad to a fully functional phone.

With No Special Hardware all what you need is Jailbroken iPad 3G and your iPad 3G will do anything you expect from iPhone... Phone Calls, SMS, FaceTime by Phone Number... ETC

iPhoneIslam was behind the FaceIt3GS tweak as well. While they have no released date for PhoneItiPad. It will apparently be available on the Cydia Store 'very soon'.

Just clarifying, did he say "ipad 1"? but the units looks like ipad 2? and i didnt see the tray of the sim, it was like like the sim was just inserted directly. i hope it works for both ipad 3g ver.

my bad, yea i think it was on a sim tray. just wasnt shot to clearly. well i hope this comes out very soon! and hope it works with lower version of FW.

you never holded ipad 2.. sure its ipad 1 because sim tray in the ipad 2 is on the top of the device.. and on the video is sim on the left side so its ipad 1.. ipad 2 cant be supported because there is no jailbreak yet.. and tgis tweek needs jailbreak of course...

use the brain before you comment, a lot of people own the iphone and ipad, now you will be able to use your sim in the ipad(your data) and not miss any calls, and why and HOW would you wanna put an ipad to your ears, use the speakerphone or mic headphone, or better; a bluetooth earpiece. Radiation is bad for your brain, use speakerphone.

bluetooth directly to your car system and obviously speakerphone. i personally cant wait, i have just this wk bought 1 and have been toying with the other poor excuses of sms apps, this would be the perfect app. apple would clean up if they added an app just the same as this in the app store

youd just use your iphone micro sim. or any other sim cut to size

For sure, as it makes the iPad1 3G with iOS 4.3.3 become a true phone, you need a microSIM with voice and SMS plan besides data plan. For phone and sms, no need to turn on the data or Internet. If your mobile network provider support Facetime, then the Facetime will be automatically available as well. By adding other cydia app such as My3G, you can facetime call without WiFi on the go.

the 3g version is the natural choice to make. without 3g you dont get gps hence cannot use it for the tomtom app like i do
