The iPhone 4S/5 has reportedly reached the final testing stage and is now being carried around by Apple and carrier executives, according to a 9to5Mac report. The new device is supposedly scheduled for release in September.
The site also reports that Apple and Verizon are stilling trying to work out support for 3G FaceTime calls and over-the-air updates for iOS 5.
Apple and Verizon have yet to strike a deal regarding FaceTime over 3G for the Verizon network. Keep in mind that 3G and 4G arent the same thing. Apple and Verizon are still working out kinks regarding support for iOS 5′s over-the-air updates, which we broke the news about, so carrier support may or may not be delayed past fall 2011.
There have been numerous reports that predict the iPhone update will be available in September or November. The question is whether this update will be a major or minor one.
I hope for a bigger screen, new design, and a better front and back camera. And if they can get rid of the home button and make it touch, that would be awesome. Right?
Keep the home button the way it is- touch capacitance buttons like on Android phones are very sensitive, in that they keep getting "pressed" when all that happened was a finger brushed it accidentally.
I'm hoping for a new one. If I buy a 4s only for it to be replaced by a 5 within 12 months I'll get pretty pissed off at Apple... They should atleast wait 12 months to make their latest and greatest phone obsolete!
I agree the "box" industrial type design should change. While I like the fact that it is very slim, I really miss the contoured easy to hold 3GS type body style..
